Introducing Leo Robert Wilburn

The newest addition to our clan arrived on August 10, 2012 at the wee hour of 1:37 am. He came fast and furiously, so we barely had time to drop Sophia off with some friends and make the 45 minute drive to the hospital in Louisville. We made it around 11:15 or so and by the time we were in a room at around midnight we didn't have much time to spare. Our sweet Leo was born after only 9 minutes of pushing as all was well except that he was low on oxygen because of his very quick birth, so I only got to hold him for a minute after he was born before they put him on oxygen for 4 hours. It was a bummer, but he recovered quickly and was back in our room by 5 am (and I got a few hours of much needed rest).

Sophia loved him from the moment she met him. She ran into our room and yelled, "baby!!!!". She has been hooked ever since. She calls him Yeo or Baby Bruder. She was very disappointed when Paul took her to go to bed for the night, but she was very excited when we all went home on Sunday.

Our new little family.

Fabulous Miss Holly who brought us an amazing dinner the day we got home from the hospital.

Leo was named for Saint Leo the Great who was pope when Attila the Hun attacked Rome in 452 A.D. The Emperor and his army had fled the city and the people were crying for help. Pope Leo stood with a few deacons as he met Attila at the Milvan bridge north of Rome. Attila turned back with the promise of tribute from the city. When asked by his advisors why he let the richest prize of a city go, he said that Pope Leo was flanked by giants of heaven, St. Peter and St. Paul patrons of Rome leading the armies of heaven and he fell back in awe. St. Leo was named a Doctor of the Church in 1744 by Pope Benedict XIV. Pray for us St. Leo the Great!
